Police Respond to Armed Robbery at Safeway; Loss Prevention Officer Sustains Minor Injuries After Being Stabbed by Suspects

According to police, “At approximately 1:06 p.m., MCP officers responded to the Safeway store in the 10500 block of Connecticut Avenue in Kensington for the report of an armed robbery that just occurred.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that two suspects entered the store and stole merchandise. When the loss prevention officer approached them, one of the suspects pulled out a knife and stabbed the loss prevention officer. The suspects then left the scene. MCP officers responded to the location and took the suspects into custody. The loss prevention officer was transported to an area hospital with superficial injuries.”
