During the Martin Luther King, Jr. Week of Service, students at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School in Germantown(13737 Wisteria Dr.) assembled Comfort Cases for children in the foster care system.

Comfort Cases is a local non-profit organization that provides backpacks full of care and comfort items to children in the foster care system so that they have items of their own when they go to a new home.

The MLK Comfort Cases included items, such as travel-sized shampoo, deodorant and toothpaste. The students made about 100 personal care kits and 60 dental care kits. The items were donated by members and businesses in the MLK school community. Students also had other projects underway at the school, including making greeting cards for a county center that supports senior citizens, writing letters to the elderly and making bookmarks for literacy campaigns.
