Dozens of students visited with representatives from more than a dozen colleges and universities during Junior Day at Wheaton High School earlier this week.
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), in partnership with the NAACP-MC Parents’ Council and John Hopkins University, hosted Junior Day, Preparing for the Journey Ahead, as part of the MCPS Out-of-School Time program, on Monday, Jan. 29 at Wheaton High School.
The event was open to rising seniors who are underrepresented minority students. Breakout sessions included discussions on researching colleges, making the most of a college visit, finding financial aid and scholarships, and having a productive summer before senior year.
Rising minority seniors had the opportunity to learn about scholarships and financial aid, receive tips on researching colleges, interviews and campus visits and the college admissions process for student athletes. Students also had the opportunity to meet with admissions counselors from a variety of colleges and universities.
