While both the GFS (American) and the Euro (European) models agree on a storm headed our way in the 24-48 hours before Valentine’s Day, they are currently offering two different solutions for the area.
The GFS is showing a snow storm that would start as rain before changing over to snow on Tuesday, while the Euro is showing a rainstorm that would arrive Monday and continue into early Tuesday.
FOX 5 meteorologist Mike Thomas wrote the following, “Look, I’m a snow lover. But I think the GFS is too slow with the system. Euro typically wins the 500mb battle and I think it has the better handle on this system. Pattern suggests it’s Monday rain as opposed to Tuesday snow.”
While it’s currently looking more likely to be rain, the European has been inching closer to possible snow, so it’s worth keeping an eye on as we move closer to the storm. We’ll continue to update as new information comes in.
Two models, two solutions for the Monday/Tuesday storm system.
