Rain Storm May End With Period of Wet Snow Tuesday Morning

Courtesy National Weather Service

The storm the two major models were in disagreement about a couple days ago is now looking a little clearer. As usual with our area, the rain looks like it will win out as it moves into the area on Monday and heads out on Tuesday…but there’s still a shot at some light, wet snow before the storm leaves.

According to the National Weather Service (see map above) , there’s about a 20% chance of at least 1 inch of snow on the back end of this storm for those closer to DC and about a 35% chance for those in Damascus. Generally, the further north you go, the higher the chances of snow to end this storm on Tuesday morning.

We will be coming off of warm days and the ground will not be cold enough for this to stick unless enough snow falls at a very fast rate. Right now it doesn’t look like there should be any impact on schools, but we’ll continue to monitor this weekend as the mid and short range models take over.
