Following the Wednesday model runs, we seem to be in pretty much the same place when it comes to the upcoming storm headed our way Friday night into Saturday morning. According to our featured image by the National Weather Service (NWS), there’s more than a 60% chance for most of the area to see at least 1 inch of snow.
The GFS (American model) is showing 2-3 inches from DC to Frederick with small patches in Maryland and Virginia at a little over 3 inches. The Euro (European model) is showing between 1.5-3 inches from DC to Frederick with a little over 3 inches towards the mountains. The GRAF, that networks like FOX5 use as their “Futurecast” shows a little over 3 inches in southern MoCo and DC and between 2-3 inches further north.
As of Wednesday night. The National Weather Service (NWS) is projecting 1-2 inches of snow for most of the area, with a “reasonable worst case” of 4 inches, and less than 1 inch on their “low end amount” map. The NWS maps can be seen below.
Had some people ask if I could tweet what the GRAF looked like for this event. Here's the latest run with it. Quick hit event, but leaves about 1-4" of snow widespread. Likely melt a lot of that off pretty quick by Saturday afternoon and Sunday with some sunshine. pic.twitter.com/WxBTYbllaZ
