The National Weather Service (NWS) has expanded its Winter Storm Warning to include all of Montgomery County, all of Loudoun County, and all of Howard County.
Per the NWS: “The Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 11pm on Friday until 5am on Saturday. Heavy snow, with total accumulations of 4 to 6 inches in portions of central to northeastern Maryland, and northern Virginia. Travel could be very difficult with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour possible for a few hours under the heaviest snow bands.
Visibility may be reduced to less than one half mile at times. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. When venturing outside, watch your first few steps taken on steps, sidewalks, and driveways, which could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.”
