The Friendship Heights bus boarding area is freshly repaved and has just reopened for customers again after a two-month-long project to rehabilitate the aging and crumbling concrete.
The project began on Dec 18, 2023, as a state-of-good repair effort to restore and repave the concrete in the sections of the bus loop that had cracks and deterioration. Metro closed the bus loop to quickly repair the areas and minimize disruption to customers. During the closure, temporary bus stops were established nearby.
When the bus loop reopened on Feb. 17, customers were able to return to the original bus bay locations, and bus operations returned to normal.
“We thank customers for their patience during construction. The Friendship Heights Bus Loop Project aligns with the goals of Metro’s Strategic Transformation Plan, to provide service excellence with the work of our talented teams and regional partnerships that support sustainable transit.
