
WalletHub, the personal finance website, recently compared more than 500 of the largest cities in the U.S. and ranked them based on three key indicators of ethnic diversity, including ethnicity and race, language, and birthplace.
Gaithersburg ranked as the Most Ethnically Diverse City amongst all communities in the United States with an ethnic diversity score of 72.78. The City of Gaithersburg also ranked #1 in the Small City Category for communities with populations under 100,000.
Per the City of Gaithersburg “It is a great honor to once again rank as the most ethnically diverse city in the U.S,” said Mayor Jud Ashman. “Our diversity is a source of pride, and it is a blessing that so many cultures call Gaithersburg home. We will continue to foster an atmosphere of inclusion that welcomes all.” Gaithersburg is ranked first overall, 5th in the “ethnoracial diversity” category, 3rd in the “linguistic diversity” category, and 83rd in the “birthplace diversity” category.
Four of the top ten most ethnically diverse cities in the country are in Maryland, including Gaithersburg, Germantown, Silver Spring, and Rockville.
