37-Year-Old Bethesda Woman Assaults Two Officers While Being Taken Into Custody for Assault and Robbery


Montgomery County Police have announced the arrest of a Bethesda woman for an assault and robbery that occurred on a Metro Bus.


Per the news release: 37-year-old Crystal McArthur, of Bethesda, has been arrested and charged for an assault and robbery that she allegedly committed on Sunday, February 18, 2024.

At approximately 9:26 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the 7600 block of Wisconsin Ave. for the report of a robbery.

The preliminary on scene investigation revealed that the adult female victim and the suspect were riding a Metro bus, when for no apparent reason, the suspect assaulted the adult female victim and took her phone. The suspect then got off the bus and walked away toward Old Georgetown Rd. The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers apprehended McArthur in the area of Old Georgetown Rd. and Edgemoor Rd. While taking her into custody, she allegedly assaulted two officers.

McArthur was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit where she has been charged with robbery, theft, and multiple counts of assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

McArthur is currently being held without bond.
