Shawn Yancy and Tony Perkins Anchor Together For the First Time in Six Years

Veteran news anchors Shawn Yancy and Tony Perkins have anchored their first newscast together in six years. The pair will continue to do so all week on News4 at 5pm on NBC4.

Shawn Yancy anchors News4 at 5 and News4 at 11 for NBC4. She joined the station in 2021. Yancy has been in the DC area since moving here with her family in 2001, when she began working at WTTG-TV (FOX5). Her second day of work was Sept. 11, the day of the terrorist attacks. For most of her 19 years at WTTG, she anchored evening and late-night newscasts.

Tony Perkins is a veteran Washington, D.C., journalist and host. He joined NBC4 in 2023 to anchor News4 Today. For more than 30 years, Perkins has been part of the D.C. media scene as a weatherman, reporter, host and news anchor on both television and radio. Perkins grew up in the D.C. area, attending school in Prince George’s and Fairfax counties and then at American University, where he majored in communications and cinema studies.

Yancy shared the following via social media today, “REUNITED! It’s been 6 years since @tonyperkinsfmtv and I have anchored a newscast together!! Join us RIGHT NOW … and all week on NEWS4 at 5pm!”
