Galito’s Flame-Grilled Chicken opened in the spot that was formerly home to Nirvana Reflexology Spa at 15918 Shady Grove Road in the Shady Grove Center (shopping center that is home to The Melting Pot) back in the spring of 2022. Less than two years later, the restaurant has closed.
The restaurant has been listed as “temporarily closed” on Google, but the windows have now been papered and signage is already up for it’s replacement (more below). Galitos offered chicken with “bold African flavors” and has been compared to international fast-casual restaurant Nando’s Peri Peri. The restaurant operates in over 16 countries, with more than 150 stores- across Africa into Malaysia, Pakistan, the UAE, India and Canada. This Gaithersburg restaurant was the South African chain’s first (and only, based on what we can see) restaurant in the United States.
Signage for “Shawarma Mediterranean Crave” is already up. As of now, we don’t ave much more than what the name implies, but we will have an update with additional information as soon as we have it. Photo below, showing the signage, courtesy of Afshan Mizrahi:
