Best Buy at Bowie Town Center in Prince George’s County closed on September 21st 2023 with plans to reopen as a Best Buy Outlet. The Best Buy Outlet store is now open, offering a slightly different experience than provided by the location for the last couple of decades. This is the first of the new Best Buy Outlet stores in the state of Maryland (a previous location in Lutherville closed).

In 2023 Best Buy CEO Corie Barry said company’s plans included closing 20 to 30 of its large format stores, opening about 10 additional outlet stores, and implementing eight Experience store remodels. The Bowie Best Buy Outlet location no longer offers the Best Buy experience many have gotten used two the last few decades, instead selling clearance and open-box products at significant discounts. Though it still offers items such as appliances, TVs, computers and more, the selection outlet locations varies by store and may include products from across all Best Buy categories. New items are added regularly.

Items sold at Best Buy Outlet stores are still backed by Best Buy’s Return and Exchange Promise. If a product is defective, it can be returned to the Outlet store or any Best Buy store for assistance. Home delivery is also available, but items ave to be purchased with delivery arranged at the store (items aren’t available for sale online). Best Buy has Montgomery County locations in Gaithersburg, Germantown, and Wheaton. As of now, there are no plans for any format changes at any of the three county stores.
