The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Red Flag Warning for Montgomery County and many surrounding areas across the DMV and beyond until 8:00 pm Wednesday, 3/20.
Ready Montgomery states that “Conditions will be favorable for the spread of brush fires. Outdoor burning is not recommended.”
Per the NWS, “The combination of dry conditions, low humidity, and strong gusty winds may result in favorable conditions for the rapid spread of fires. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.”
