Ride On Route 76 Changes to Begin Friday, March 29

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation has announced that beginning Friday, March 29, Ride On Route 76 (Shady Grove/Poolesville) will no longer serve The Crossvines Golf Course as a termination point for operational safety reasons.

Per the news release: The route will return to its previous pattern leaving Poolesville. All other stops will continue to be served as usual.

Route 76 was modified with the January 14 service change and was extended to the Poolesville Crossvines Golf Course from the Shady Grove Metro Station for certain trips and eliminated the Quince Orchard High School stop. The current routing travels via I-370, Sam Eig Highway, Diamondback Drive, Muddy Branch Road, Great Seneca Highway, Kentlands Boulevard, Tschiffely Square Road, Chestertown Street, Tschiffely Square Road, Darnestown Road, Whites Ferry Road, Fisher Avenue, West Willard Road to Poolesville Golf Course/Crossvines.

For trips previously serving Quince Orchard High School, the service now uses a loop: Orchard Drive to Hillstone Road to Quince Orchard Road to Darnestown Road. The bus stop within the Crossvines Golf Course driveway will be removed and the closest bus stop to Quince Orchard High School is now in front of the McDonalds restaurant on Darnestown Road.

Ride On bus fare is only $1 and monthly passes are $22.50 using SmarTrip, cash, or tokens. Seniors age 65 or older,  persons with disabilities and youth ages 18 and under all ride free using specialized SmarTrip cards.

The Ride On Trip Planner app is a free regional public transportation planner that will find your fastest route.
