During its April 1 meeting, the Gaithersburg Mayor and City Council officially appointed Darnell E. Ingram as Gaithersburg’s new full-time City Attorney. Ingram will assume the duties of City Attorney effective May 1, 2024.
Ingram comes to Gaithersburg after serving in many leadership roles and as a strategic partner within the City of Baltimore. He most recently served as the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Baltimore City’s Department of Public Works. He also served as the Deputy City Solicitor of the city’s Law Department and the Director of the Office of Equity and Civil Rights where he instituted the city’s first equity program.
“I’m thrilled to join Gaithersburg as the new City Attorney,” says Ingram. “My passion for equity and strategic partnership aligns perfectly with the City and its vision and mission. I look forward to working with my new colleagues and beginning a new journey in Gaithersburg.”
The Gaithersburg City Attorney is appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council and represents the City in all legal matters, including the bringing and defending of suits. Ingram will attend Mayor and City Council meetings, advise elected officials and staff on a wide range of legal issues, and monitor changes in federal, state and local laws and regulations that might impact the City.
