
Montgomery County Police are investigating a fatal hit and run that occurred early this morning on Viers Mill Rd in Wheaton-Glenmont that involved an Acura TL. Police are also investigating a separate fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred on Friday, April 5 in Colesville that also involved an Acura.
Per the news release: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a hit and run pedestrian fatality that occurred on Monday, April 8, 2024.
At approximately 12:02 a.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Veirs Mill Road and Monterrey Dr. for the report of a pedestrian struck. The preliminary investigation by detectives has revealed that the adult male pedestrian was riding his skateboard in the roadway of westbound Veirs Mill Rd., just prior to Monterrey Dr., when he was hit by a white Acura TL traveling westbound. The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene.
The Acura, an approximately 2009 model, has damage to the front right corner, including a missing portion of the bumper cover and a missing/broken headlight, fog light and parking light. It may also have damage to the windshield and/or window. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
