Northwest High School Announces the Hiring of Calvin (C.J.) Jenkins as New Boys Basketball Coach

Northwest High School (NWHS) in Germantown has announced the hiring of Calvin (C.J.) Jenkins as its new Varsity Boys Basketball Coach. Coach Jenkins was part of the first 4-year class at NWHS, graduating from Northwest in 2002.

Per Northwest Athletics/Jody Tyler, Jenkins is one of the All-Time Leading Scorers, Rebounders, and Shot Blockers for the Northwest Boys Basketball team and was also a member of the Football team, and Track & Field Team.

“Coach Jenkins earned athletic and academic scholarships to NOVA Southeastern University where he was a 4-year Letterman for the Men’s Basketball Team. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and is currently in the NSU Men’s Basketball record book for Games Played (108), Rebounds (465), Blocked Shots (79), and Field Goals Made (330).

Coach Jenkins went on to play 6 years professionally overseas with stops in Romania (CSU Cuadripol Brasov), Germany (Bayern Muenchen), Mexico (Paskolas De Navojoa | Manzaneros De Cuautemoc), and Canada (Summerside Storm), and domestically, semi-professionally in the American Basketball League (Fort Lauderdale Sharks) and American Basketball Association (Palm Beach Imperials).

Coach Jenkins has 7 years of Coaching experience: 2007-2008: Northwest HS JV Men’s Head Coach, 2018-2020: Seneca Valley JV Men’s Head Coach/Assistant Varsity Men’s Coach, 2020-2022: Seneca Valley Assistant Varsity Men’s Coach, and most recently, 2022-2024: Seneca Valley Varsity Men’s Head Coach.

Coach Jenkins lives in Gaithersburg, married for 6 ½ years to Karina Jenkins (Northwest Alum) and has 3 sons: Isaiah, Elijah, & Ezra. Coach Jenkins works as a Paralegal for the Circuit Court Division of the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office in Rockville, MD.”
