Popular Pigeon Has Been Adopted and Has a “Stellar New Home”

The Montgomery County Animal Services & Adoption Center (MCASAC) recently shared one of the newest animals looking for a forever home- Valley the pigeon. Valley is described as a “very friendly, very silly, and very determined pigeon with a funny story” and has gained so much popularity that her story was covered by People magazine. Valley was adopted last week. Full story below:

Weekend update from MCASAC: “Thank you to everybody who fell in love with this silly bird the way we did! She was adopted yesterday and has a stellar new home!”

“Last week, staff members noticed a pigeon who was hanging out outside our Adoption Center. Eventually she decided she was tired of waiting around and took herself into the building by landing on a staff member and hitching a ride inside.

Because Valley did not have a band and was in good health, we directed her back outside so she could return to the wild where she came from. But Valley had other plans! Every time Valley was placed lovingly outside, she would land on somebody’s head, shoulder, or jacket and take herself back inside.

Finally on a particularly rainy day Valley landed on a staff member’s head while she took photos of our dogs in the yard. Not only was she a great photo assistant, but she stayed nestled in the staff member’s hair no matter how many dogs she met or how long she was out there.

It was finally decided that with her love for human company and lack of survival skills, Valley would really like to be put up for adoption… Well she came to the right place! So she is now looking for a new home where she can be a beloved companion.

She’s incredibly friendly, loyal, and cute. She much prefers hanging out with her human friends, on your head or shoulder, to being in her cage, so she’s hoping to find an adopter who enjoys her company as much as she enjoys theirs and wants to spend lots of time with her!”
