The personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2024’s Most Diverse Cities in America to “identify the places where people have the most unique blend of perspectives, which brings social and economic benefits.” Montgomery County, MD is home to the top three cities (areas) on the list, with Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, and Germantown coming in ranked first, second, and third.

Earlier this year WalletHub released its report on the most and least ethnically diverse cities, with Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, Germantown, and Rockville all in the top 8 of the list. Rockville ranked 15th in today’s list of “2024’s Most Diverse Cities in America.”

To determine the places in the U.S. with the most mixed demographics, WalletHub compared the profiles of more than 500 of the largest cities across five major diversity categories: socioeconomic, cultural, economic, household and religious.

Gaithersburg comes in ranked first overall, largely on the strength of its #1 cultural diversity ranking. Silver Spring is ranked second overall, with its high rankings in the socioeconomic diversity ranking (#3) and cultural diversity ranking (#4). Germantown is ranked third overall, due to its high cultural diversity ranking (#3), and Rockville comes in at 15th overall due to its #8 ranking in cultural diversity.
