
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision involving a pedestrian between exits 8 (Shady Grove Rd.) and 9 (Sam Eig Hwy) on northbound I-270 at approximately 5:40am Friday morning.
According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, “apparently one adult entered the roadway” and was killed by a driver. Piringer stated that MCFRS EMIHS evaluated a trauma patient with a life threatening injury who did not survive.
The Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination (MATOC) program has put out the following alert, “Police Activity. I-270 NB (Local Lanes) at I-370 (Exit 9). Montgomery County, MD. All Local Lanes are blocked. Traffic gets by the scene using the Main Lanes. Delays are building.”
