Longtime MoCo Coach Larry Hurd Sr. to Accept Lifetime Coaching Award in the Maryland State Football Coaches Association on April 27th

Walter Johnson Assistant Football Coach Larry Hurd Sr. will be accepting the John W. Voight Award on April 27th at the Gossett Team House within the University of Maryland College Park Campus.  Coach Hurd Sr. is being recognized for his over 40 years of service to the State of Maryland as an assistant coaching football.

This award honors coaches in the state of Maryland who have 20 years of loyal service as an assistant football coach. The award was established in 1994, and is named after John W. Voight, who was one of the founders of our state organization and a hall of fame coach from High Point High School.

Coach Hurd has coached at St. John’s, Quince Orchard, Churchill, Gaithersburg, Poolesville, Clarksburg, Northwest, and Walter Johnson high schools. His son, Larry Hurd Jr., is a longtime coach in the county as well and is currently the Athletic Specialist at Walter Johnson High School.
