Montgomery Parks will be hosting its second annual Roller Disco event on Friday, May 17th from 6pm to 8pm at Ridge Road Recreational Park in Germantown. Additional information about the event is available below, courtesy of Montgomery Parks:
“Beyond just places to skate, roller rinks of the 70s and 80s were bustling community hubs where fashion, camaraderie, and music collided. On Friday, May 17, roll on out to Ridge Road Recreational Park for Montgomery Parks’ Roller Disco event for a night of nostalgia that harkens back to the era of disco.
From 6 to 8 pm, guests can enjoy roller-skating on the inline rink for free while a DJ plays funkadelic hits from the past to today. Attendees are encouraged to wear their bell bottoms, fringe, silk scarves, tie-dye, and other groovy garb to the Roller Disco, and must bring their own skates. Rentals will not be provided at the event.
When taking a break from skating, guests can boogie on down to the on-site dessert vendor, Sno Blast DMV, to purchase a sweet treat or they can lounge on the lawn with friends and family. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or picnic blankets for seating. Outside food is permitted. The Roller Disco is going to be a “night fever” you won’t want to miss.”
