Patient in Psychiatric Hospital Identified as Bomb Threat Suspect

Montgomery County Police has released additional information regarding the two false bomb threats that that were received on Tuesday, April 24.

Per the news release: On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, Maryland State Police (MSP) received multiple calls for bomb threats to Montgomery County Public Schools.  MSP notified the Montgomery County Emergency Communications Center.

As a result of the calls, Wootton High School was put into a shelter and place and Einstein High School administration evacuated its students while police K9 searched the areas.

Through the course of the investigation, the Montgomery County Department of Police Behavioral Assessment and Administrative Unit identified the phone number as being associated with a psychiatric hospital in the Washington, DC area.  The hospital was able to identify the patient and is cooperating with MCPD as the case continues.  No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
