Wheaton Mall Update: Openings, Closings, and Coming Soon

Below is a list of businesses that have recently opened, closed, or are coming soon to Wheaton Mall at 11160 Veirs Mill Rd.

Coming Soon: Divine Jewelers and Deluxe Gold & Diamonds

Coming soon signage is up for two new jewelers at Wheaton Mall: Divine Jewelers and Deluxe Gold & Diamonds. They will join Classic Diamond & Jewelry/Pandora, Gold Palace, Kay Jewelers, Paradise Jewelry Store, and Ruby Jewelers as gold/jewelry vendors in the mall.

New: Q
Woman’s discount clothing store Q is now open across from the food court (photos below).

Closed for Remodeling: Popeyes
Last month, we reported that the Popeyes location inside of the mall’s food court had gone dark. The location was closed and signage had been removed, leading to speculation that the restaurant had permanently closed. A mall representative has informed us that Popeyes will not be closing; instead, it will undergo remodeling and will reopen with new management. No timeframe on reopening has been announced.

Relocated: Dank Exotic Snacks
The Dank Exotic Snacks vending machine, which features international versions of popular snack foods (Cheetos, Doritos, Lays, Skittles), has relocated from the food court to the Target entrance on the first floor.

Closed: Two Hands Corn Dogs

Two Hands Corn Dogs closed in February. The restaurant opened on the mall’s upper level in April 2022. The Korean franchise offered fried corn dogs topped with various options, including Hot Cheetos, sweet ranch, rice puffs, and potato cubes. Additional menus items included elote, Kimchi fries, frozen slushes, and milk/boba teas.

Closed: Sydney’s Burger
Sydney’s Burger, located on the mall’s upper level near Dick’s Sporting Goods, has closed. The restaurant opened in October 2021 and featured hamburgers, turkey burgers, salmon burgers, wings, breakfast sandwiches, and quesadillas.

Closing Soon: Express
Fashion retailer Express announced this week that it is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and plans to close almost 100 of its locations, including the one at Wheaton Mall. The Westfield Wheaton Mall location is currently the only Maryland store listed to close. Its locations at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda and at the Clarksburg Premium Outlets will remain open. No closing date has been announced.
