Royal Farms Moves Forward With Second MoCo Location

Royal Farms first location in Gaithersburg

Royal Farms made its Montgomery County debut when it opened its first MoCo location in Gaithersburg in 2022. Now, the convenience store popular for its fried chicken, is moving forward with its planned Silver Spring location, according to a report by Source of the Spring.

Last year, we reported that Royal Farms is planned for the Sunoco gas station site at 9475 Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring, according to applications filed with the county’s Department of Permitting Services. Now, according to the Source of the Spring report, “commercial building permit applications were filed with the county’s Department of Permitting Services earlier this month.”

This will be the first of the three major convenience store chains that have recently moved into the county (Royal Farms, Sheetz, and Wawa) that will not be in Gaithersburg. Sheetz will be opening a second Gaithersburg location in the Walnut Hill shopping center.

Robert Dyer reports that the “construction permit for the new Royal Farms has been posted, but the location does not yet appear on the “Coming Soon!” section of the Maryland chain’s website.” We will provide updates when construction begins and an opening timeframe becomes available.
