Sport Clips, located at 720 Center Point Way in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood, has closed permanently. The store originally opened in April 2014 and was advertised as the franchise’s 1,200th location.
Sport Clips Haircuts is headquartered in Georgetown, Texas. It was established in 1993 and began franchising in 1995. The sports-themed haircutting franchise, which specializes in haircuts for men and boys, ranked #44 in the Entrepreneur “Franchise 500” for 2024 and was named a 2024 Top Franchise by Franchise Business Review. There are almost 1,900 Sport Clips stores open in the U.S. and Canada.
The Kentlands location was the franchise’s second in Gaithersburg. The other Gaithersburg location at 488 N Frederick Ave closed a couple years back. When it opened back in 2014, the Kentlands location was touted as the franchise’s 1,200th location in the U.S. We are told the location’s manager, Rachel, has moved to the Mount Airy Sport Clips location. Some of the other stylists are now working at nearby Floyd’s 99 Barbershop.
