
Approximately 65 Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) firefighters responded to a house fire in the 19600blk of Westerly Ave in Poolesville on Saturday, May 11, at approximately 11:53pm.
According to Assistant Chief with MCFRS David Pazos, firefighters located a basement fire with extension to the exterior of the home. An occupant home reported seeing smoke from the basement after a lightning strike.
The damage is estimated to exceed $1,000,000, with $800,000 attributed to structural damage and $250,000 to contents of the home. Three adults have been displaced and there were no injuries reported.
