Last year, our very own “Mr. MoCo” released a list of his favorite steak and cheese subs in Montgomery County. This past weekend, The MoCoShow as a whole released its list of the Top 5 cheesesteaks in Philadelphia, and it coincided with the release of the “Mr. MoCo Cheesesteak” that is now available for a limited time only at SOKO Butcher (7306 Carroll Avenue, Takoma Park, MD). Video available below.
SOKO Butcher and Mr. MoCo (Alex Tsironis, founder of The MoCoShow) came together to create a Philly-inspired version of a cheesesteak that we think you’ll love. The cheesesteak is a monster (probably enough to feed two). Because of that, it runs for $21. It can be seen below and consists of shaved ribeye / coopers cheese / truffle cheese whiz / cherry pepper aioli / caramelized onions/ and a Side of MoCo Sauce for optional dipping. The ramp (green leafy veggie) on this specific cheesesteak is just for decoration, since it’s ramp season.
“Everyone’s an expert on what they like, regardless of where they’re from, etc. and because of that there will be people who love this cheesesteak and people who don’t.” Tsironis explained. “A few of my friends with very different tastes have tried and and they’ve all loved it, so I hope anyone who is willing to give it a shot agrees.” The special MoCo sauce that comes on the side for optional dipping is a nod to Montgomery County, MD. It lets you still get the taste of ketchup, mayo, and tomatoes without actually adding them onto the sandwich, if you’re someone who wishes to dip, Tsironis said.
