On Friday, May 24th at approximately 8:45pm, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Swift Water Rescue personnel were dispatched for a missing swimmer in the Potomac River, in the area of Sandy Landing at Great Falls Park.
According to Assistant MCFRS Chief David Pazos, Units from @COcanalNPS/ US Park and Fairfax Fire and Rescue assisted, but were unsuccessful in locating the swimmer.
Today (Saturday, 5/25), MCFRS Swift Water Rescue Team personnel will be out again in the morning and afternoon, searching for the swimmer. They will also continue their summer campaign of educating people near the water on the dangers in swimming in the Potomac River, which is not allowed.
