Maryland State Police Vehicle Involved in Collision on I-270

Update: According to Maryland State Police, “At around 7:15pm last night in the area of NB 270, north of Watkins Mill Road, troopers responded to a crash that injured a Rockville Barrack trooper. Preliminary investigation indicates he was in his marked patrol vehicle with his emergency equipment activated, responding to assist another trooper who was investigating a suspected DUI crash. The trooper was struck by a Toyota Sequoia SUV while attempting to make a U-turn at the center median emergency crossover. The driver of the Sequoia was not injured. The trooper was transported to Suburban Hospital.”
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a Maryland State Police vehicle at approximately 7pm on Monday, May 27. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the incident occurred on northbound I-270 in the area of Watkins Mill Rd. Two patients were evaluated for non-life threatening injuries.
