High school students Evan Kim and Alex Desantis-Baugh from the Bullis School have founded a political blog with a mission to provide youth with a resource to form their own opinions. The blog, named Politics Explained, is centered around non-partisan weekly updates on U.S. politics.
Evan and Alex tell us “In such a politically divided society, we hope to play their part in fostering more unity and understanding.” They also hope to spark conversation within the youth that pushes their generation forward in a positive manner. “By educating our classmates and fellow high schoolers about the upcoming election, we aim to provide as much information as possible so that each individual can choose the candidate they resonate with the most.”
Although the focus is towards youth, the young men tell us that Politics Explained can be utilized by any one who wishes to keep up with the ever-changing political climate.
Alex was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and has interests in politics, business, and international relations. He aims to build his community up in all ways possible, one of them being his role at Politics Explained. In the future, Alex hopes to continue pursuing his interests as a political or business major.
