A tornado warning is in effect for parts of Fredrick and Montgomery counties until 2:15pm, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service shared the warning at 1:49pm and it remains in effect until 2:15pm for areas that include Urbana, Green Valley, and Damascus. This is the second straight day there has been a tornado warning in the area, after tornados were confirmed in Montgomery County on Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service, this is what a tornado Warning means: “Take Action! A tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar. There is imminent danger to life and property. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If in a mobile home, a vehicle, or outdoors, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. Warnings are issued by your local forecast office. Warnings typically encompass a much smaller area (around the size of a city or small county) that may be impacted by a tornado identified by a forecaster on radar or by a trained spotter/law enforcement who is watching the storm.”
Most of the DC Metro area is under a “marginal risk” for severe weather on Thursday, June 6th:
