Joan Jett, the woman many refer to as the Queen of Rock & Roll, spent almost a decade of her life growing up in Randolph Hills and attended Wheaton High School (she left the area before graduating). She will be returning to Maryland for the Orioles game against the Texas Rangers on June 28th as the “guest splasher” in the team’s “Splash Zone” in left field, where fans are sprayed with a hose in celebration after big plays

The “I Love Rock & Roll” singer is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and was named one of Rolling Stone magazine’s 100 Greatest Guitarists. During her time growing up in Montgomery County, MD she attended her first Orioles game, which was Jim Palmer’s no-hitter in 1969 and has remained a fan ever since (according to a 2014 interview with Billboard). Last year she spent some time saying hello to players ahead of the game and even visited the broadcast booth to help call the game when Ryan O’Hearn hit a two-RBI single for the first runs of the game, putting Baltimore up 2-0 for an eventual 4-2 win against the White Sox.

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will be in town for two concerts at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia with Alanis Morissette and Morgan Wade. They’ll be performing on consecutive nights on June 29th and 30th. At the game, on June 28th, the Orioles will be holding 98 Rock Night that will feature Jett throwing out the first pitch and being the “guest splasher” as well as meet & greets with 98 Rock talent including Justin, Scott, Spiegel, Amelia, and Marianne.
