MoCo native (Brookeville) and 2023 Sherwood graduate, Bryan Kim, will be one of 16 amateurs teeing off on Thursday, June 13th, for the 124th U.S. Open at Pinehurst Resort No. 2, hoping to win low amateur honors and contend against the world’s top players.
Kim won the 75th U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, held at Daniel Island Club in Charleston, South Carolina last July and just wrapped up his freshman year at Duke University.
Kim earned his first U.S. Open start by capturing the 2023 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Daniel Island Club in Charleston, S.C. Kim, by defeating Joshua Bai, of New Zealand, 2 up, in the 36-hole championship match, became the second Duke golfer to claim this prestigious title, joining Jason Widener.
The Maryland native won his state’s junior title in 2019 and 2021, and was named a Rolex American Junior Golf Association All-American in 2021 and 2022. He twice was the state high school runner-up in 2019 and 2023. He also was a four-year letterman in swimming during his high school career.
