Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a town house on Elm Grove Circle in Cloverly for the report of a person suffering from a medical emergency/chest pain.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, when crews arrived, they found five people (three adults and two children) had been exposed to CO levels exceeding 300 ppm. The source of the CO was charcoal burners used inside the home for a religious ceremony in a poorly ventilated area. The five injured were transported to Baltimore for hyperbaric medical treatment.
We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.
