In the past we’ve shared information regarding various scams in local Facebook groups, including mobile car detailing and duct cleaning scams and imposter tattoo artist scams. A newer scam making the rounds now involves the sale of concert/event tickets at a lower-than-usual price, due to “emergency” on the seller’s side.
Various local Facebook groups have been dealing with an uptick of this type of scam that often involves a very popular upcoming event and a medical or personal emergency by the “seller.” The scammer often asks anyone interested in the tickets to send them a private message and sometimes turns comments off to avoid anyone calling them out.
“Everything seemed right until i sent payment and got blocked on everything. They even sent me screenshots of the tickets so I thought they were legit.” warned one Facebook user in a local group. Group admins are warning group members to use caution when purchasing items via Facebook, especially when it’s from someone unfamiliar to you.
If you see any of these posts, report them to the administrators of the Facebook group so that they can verify the validity of the post and person making the post. Even then, it’s advised to use caution as some of these scammer profiles appear to be real.
