“Today will be the hottest day of the year thus far.” -National Weather Service

The National Weather Service has stated that “Today will be the hottest day of the year thus far.” This comes after what was the hottest day of the year for many on Friday.

Heat Advisories remain in effect for the majority of the area. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms may also be possible this afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be near 100° and the heat index will likely be above 105°.

The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security has issued a Heat Emergency Alert from noon Saturday, June 22 through 8 p.m. Sunday, June 23 due to the National Weather Service forecast for extremely dangerous temperatures and heat index values.

A Heat Emergency Alert is declared when the temperature or heat index is forecast to be 105℉ or higher for a period of two days or more. While nighttime temperatures will be lower, they still pose a health threat with extended exposure. Featured photo courtesy of the National Weather Service.
