Temporary Closure of Lake Whetstone Parking Lot For Asphalt Repairs

The Montgomery Village Foundation has shared news of the Lake Whetstone parking lot temporarily closing (anticipated two day closure, weather permitting) for the completion of asphalt repair.

Lake Whetstone was created by a dam, and the island in the middle was created by digging the bottom of the lake deeper when there was no water in it. Clarence Kettler, one of the brothers responsible for the creation of Montgomery Village, was so particular about the lake that he even had it drained two times to make sure it was just right.

“Beginning on Tuesday, June 25, the parking lot at Lake Whetstone Park (18701 Montgomery Village Avenue) will be closed temporarily for completion of asphalt repairs. The maintenance work is anticipated to be completed within two days, weather permitting. We appreciate the community’s understanding and cooperation.”
