Quincy Wilson Finishes 6th in 400m Final, Awaits Decision From Team USA Relay Pool

Quincy Wilson, a rising junior at the Bullis School in Potomac, ran a 44.94 to finish in sixth place in the men’s 400m Final on Monday night. He now awaits to see if the Team USA relay pool will call him to be part of the team at the Olympics in Paris.

“I can’t go back and be disappointed. At the end of the day, I’m 16 running… grown man times.” Wilson said in an interview after the race. He previously broke the under-18 world record for the 400-meter dash that stood for 42 years with a time of 44.66 seconds.

The All-Met Athlete of the Year by the Washington Post recently completed his sophomore year at Bullis, earning straight A’s. He grew up in Chesapeake, VA, but moved to Gaithersburg with his family to attend Bullis in Potomac in high school.

NFL Insider Josina Anderson was impressed by the young man and shared the following on X, “16yo Quincy Wilson runs a 44.94 to finish 6th in the M400m final tonight against grown men. Just a real display of grit to close some of the gap in the final stretch. You can see the young runner representing Bullis High School in Maryland has the eye of a wolf. No fear and total unbridled belief in himself. That’s the stuff you can’t teach. Wilson can still improve his arm technique and his mindfulness of not drifting side-to-side in his lane when his digging deep to shift gears. But Wilson will be back and still has a chance to go to Paris on a relay team. Hold your head young man. In four years, the competition will be at your back. Salute.”
