The Montgomery County Board of Education will formally install the 47th Student Member of the Board (SMOB), Praneel Survarna, on July 1.
Suvarna, a senior at Clarksburg High School, begins his term upon installation. The Board will also recognize the contributions of the outgoing SMOB, Sami Saaed, at the installation ceremony.
Suvarna has served as the vice president of the Montgomery County Regional Student Government Association and was the junior class president for his school. His experiences include working with the Student Advisory Mental Health Board and MoCo for Change. He is also a certified presenter with the Maryland Association of Student Councils.
The SMOB Installation will take place Monday, July 1, 4:00 p.m. at 15 W. Gude Drive. Media are invited to attend the ceremony. It will also be livestreamed on the MCPS website.
