Friday morning we reported that Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire at a single family home on Cochrane Ct. in Gaithersburg. MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer has provided an update on the fire.
Two adults and two children were home at the time of the fire, which started shortly before 6am. The bulk of the fire was put out by 6:25am with crews working on hotspots in the garage. The family was alerted of the fire by the smoke alarm.
The fire began on the exterior rear deck. It was likely electrical in nature and accidental. Approximately $600K in damage was incurred, which includes about $450K in structure and $150K in contents. The family has been displaced.
