July’s Nature Center Programs (Paid and Free)- Montgomery Parks

Offerings this July at Montgomery Parks nature centers include field trips to the Eastern Shore, lake tours and night fishing. Let the adventures begin. July nature center programs include: 

Black Hill Van Trips: Wye Island | July 2 | 8 a.m.–3 p.m.

Black Hill Discovery Center, 20926 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds

Hiking trip to Wye Island Natural Resource Management Area, an Eastern Shore treasure. Ages 18 and older. Registration required. $50 per person.

 

Lake Tour by Kayak | July 9, 29 and 30 | 4–6 p.m. (July 9 and 30); 9–11 a.m. (July 29)

Black Hill Discovery Center, 20926 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds

Join us for a leisurely paddle on Little Seneca Lake and possibly see herons, beavers and maybe a bald eagle. We will supply boats, paddles, and Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) but kayakers are welcome to bring their own PFD (Type III or V). Ages 12 and older. Registration required. $30 per person.

 

55+ Lake Tour by Kayak | July 16 | 4–6 p.m.

Black Hill Discovery Center, 20926 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds

Join us for a leisurely paddle on Little Seneca Lake. We will supply boats, paddles, and PFDs.  Adaptive equipment will be available to help participants get in out of the kayak. Basic paddling experience required. Registration required. $30 per person.

 

Night Fishing | July 17 | 7:30–11:45 p.m.

Black Hill Boats, 20920 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds

One-of-a-kind opportunity to relax, fish and make unforgettable memories under the stars. Don’t miss this exciting adventure! Free.

 

Creature Feature  | July 20 | 1:30–2 p.m.

Brookside Nature Center, 1400 Glenallan Ave, Wheaton

Join us for an up-close encounter with one of our animal ambassadors! Why do they live at the nature center? What would their wild counterparts be doing at this time of year? We’ll answer these questions and more at this drop-in program. All ages. Free.
