Empress Coffee & Cocktails is now open at 325 Main Street in Gaithersburg. The new coffee shop has taken over the space that was most recently home to Brew House Kentlands, which closed after being open for a little over a year. The space was also the previous home of Clear Skies Meadery, which opened its new meadery at 15201 Display Ct in Rockville.
The coffee shop is owned by longtime MoCo residents Sam and Tara who are both photographers and have always wanted a place where they can hang out while editing their photos— so they opened one. Sam has been looking for a location and after months of checking out various places across the county, found an opportunity he felt would be the perfect fit at 325 Main St. Tara has been baking for years and makes all of pastries offered at the shop. They slice their own deli meat and all of their breakfast sandwiches are made to order.
For now, coffee, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, sandwiches, Persian pizza, beer, wine, and more are available at the shop. The cocktails will be coming soon, following a few licenses needed to serve them. They also offer live music with more info on their instagram account, @empresscoffeecocktails. Video and photos of the shop and some of their items can be seen below.
