The National Weather Service (NWS) has made note of an upcoming heat and humidity increase heading into the Independence Day holiday.
Per the NWS: “Heat Advisories have been issued for most of the I-95 corridor Thursday for heat indices between 100-105 deg. Elsewhere heat indices will run 98-103 deg. Use caution if spending time outdoors.”
A Heat Advisory is issued when heat indices reach 105 or higher EAST of the Blue Ridge, and 100F or higher WEST of the Blue Ridge. Advisories are issued when excessive heat is expected in the next 24 to 36 hours. An advisory is for less serious conditions that cause significant discomfort or inconvenience and, if caution is not taken, could lead to a threat to life.
