As Washington, D.C., prepares to host the 2024 NATO Summit from Tuesday, July 9 through Thursday, July 11, Metro is announcing temporary service adjustments to ensure the safety and security of attendees and residents.
Metro will close two rail stations to customers.
- Federal Triangle station will be closed to customers on July 9. Trains will bypass the station.
- Mt Vernon Square station will be closed to customers starting July 9 at 11 a.m. and reopen at 5 a.m. on July 12. Trains will bypass the station. Yellow Line trains heading northbound will offload customers one station early at Gallery Place. Staff will be in place on the Gallery Place platform to assist customers.
Metrobus Service Adjustments:
Security zones around both the Washington Convention Center and the International Trade Center will close off several streets to traffic, including transit vehicles.
The following streets will be closed during the summit:
- New York Avenue between 11th and 6th Streets, NW
- 15th Street between H Street and Constitution Avenue, NW
- Madison Drive between 15th and 12th Streets, NW
- 12th Street between E Street, NW and Madison Drive, NW
- Constitution Avenue between 9th and 15th Streets, NW
- 10th Street between Constitution and E Street, NW
- Pennsylvania Avenue between 8th and 15th Streets, NW
- 11th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and E Street, NW
- E Street between 11th and 12th Streets, NW
- 12th Street between E Street and Madison Drive, NW
Routes being detoured: Metro will detour several routes starting Monday, July 8 at 8 p.m. through Thursday, July 11 at 8 p.m.
The following routes will be detoured: 3F, 3Y, 11Y, 16E, 16Y, 32, 33, 36, 42, 43, 52, 59, 63, 64, 70, 74, 79, 80, D4, D6, G8, N2, N4, N6, P6, S2, X2.
Metro is working closely with local and federal law enforcement to ensure the safety of all passengers. Metro Transit Police will have an increased police presence throughout the system during the week of events.
