Women’s Shelter Seeks Help After Fire Displaces 34 Residents

The Interfaith Works Women’s Center is currently in need of funding after a July 4 fire displaced 34 women and 16 staff members.

Per Interfaith Works: “Midday on the 4th of July, there was an electrical fire at the IW Women’s Center at Crabbs Branch. Thanks to the quick work of the staff and Montgomery County Fire & Rescue, there were no injuries, but 34 women and 16 staff were displaced.

Damage was extensive and the County has already started cleaning up. The women have been relocated to a temporary facility and are not expected to return for at least two months.

We are currently in need of funding to help maintain the level of service that Interfaith Works is known for. Flexible funding will help us replace supplies and staff equipment, allow residents do their laundry and have access to transportation, and more. Please donate if you can.”
