San Pancho Burritos is Now Open

San Pancho Burritos opened on Saturday in Takoma Park at 7056 Carroll Ave serving San Francisco-style burritos. After moving Cielo Rojo restaurant to its new, bigger location at 7211 Carroll Ave, owners Carolina McCandless and David Perez transformed the original Cielo Rojo space into San Pancho Burritos.

In addition to San Francisco-style burritos, find breakfast burritos, tortas, salads, quesadillas and a full beverage menu starting with Vigilante coffee in the morning then margarita slushies, Mexican beers, and more. See full menu here.

Owners David Perez and Carolina McCandless met in 2012 at Gracias Madre, a vegan Mexican restaurant in San Francisco. Now, they’ve brought their take on San Francisco Mission-style burritos to Montgomery County.

A “Mission-style” burrito is a type of burrito that first became popular during the 1960s in the Mission District of San Francisco, California. It is distinguished by its large size and the inclusion of rice and other ingredients. This style gained nationwide popularity when major chains like Chipotle and Qdoba began offering their versions.

Carolina McCandless has local ties to the area, as she is from Takoma Park, and her parents own Amano, a nearby store offering unique and affordable women’s clothing, jewelry, accessories, and shoes.
