Maryland State Troopers Rescue Dog In Unattended Vehicle on I-495 Tuesday

Trooper Shane McGregor (pictured), assigned to the Aviation Command, assisted the College Park barrack with a reported dog left in a hot car on the shoulder of I-495 near the Baltimore-Washington Parkway on Tuesday.

According to Maryland State Police, troopers observed a dog left unattended in a vehicle with the windows rolled up and vehicle shut off on the shoulder of I-495.

The dog was showing signs of heat exhaustion and needed immediate care. The dog was removed from the vehicle, given water, and placed in a cooled patrol car. “After a few minutes, the dog started to perk up and showed signs of improvement!” The dog then enjoyed exploring the inside of the cruisers while animal control was contacted.

Maryland State Police reminds everyone that “Temperatures continue to be hot! This is our reminder to NEVER leave children or pets unattended in vehicles. Temperatures inside vehicles can become deadly in MINUTES.”
