Montgomery County Man Wanted for First-Degree Murder in Connection with Fatal Shooting in West Virginia

The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office in Morgantown, WV are searching for a 19-year-old Montgomery Village man wanted in connection to a shooting that occurred on Mountain Valley Drive in Morgantown, West Virginia on Thursday, July 11.

According to a news release, “Upon arriving on scene, Deputies located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The male was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The victim was identified as 21-year-old Rashad Malik Alton of Morgantown. This appeared to be an isolated incident between acquaintances. Monongalia County Sheriff’s Detectives responded to the scene to investigate.

During the investigation, Detectives identified the shooter as 19-year-old Arnold Johnson III of Montgomery Village, MD. Mr. Johnson is currently wanted for 1st Degree murder and is considered armed and dangerous. He is believed to have fled WV and is currently in the MD, VA, D.C. area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office at 304-291-7260 or 911. Residents of Mountain Valley Drive who reside near the 9000 building with information or video is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office.”
